Michelle Baruch Baron
I am a Health Care Professional Council and British Association of Art Therapists registered Art Therapist based in
Todmorden West Yorkshire.
Why choose SeaShell Art Therapy?

As a qualified and experienced Art Therapist and Systemic Practitioner, I can offer a safe and confidential space for individuals, families or groups who want to use art and creativity for therapeutic exploration.
Art Therapy can offer a less confrontational approach than traditional talking therapies and can engage people in their therapeutic journey in unique and alternatives ways.
Systemic Practice takes into consideration our wider context and aims to offer a non-judgemental space where families can find new ways to better understand and support each other.
Any of the services can be blended to suit the individual, group or family. They can be given online or delivered in person at a wheelchair accessible, fully equipped art therapy space in Todmorden.
Sometimes services can be delivered face to face in a setting, such as school or at home if deemed appropriate.
I aim to provide a non-discriminatory practice taking into account all the different intersections that you bring. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this further.
I am insured to work with all age groups.

What are the different services?
Individual Art Therapy
Art therapy provides a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space. You do not need to be ‘good’ at art to take part in art therapy. People of any age, experience and background can engage with art therapy.
This way of working can be particularly useful for those who are experiencing mental distress or lack of motivation or meaning in their lives. It can also offer a healing space for those who have experienced traumatic life events. This can include early developmental disruption as well as those who have been given a neurodivergent diagnosis.
In sessions there will be a range of creative materials to explore and use, such as paints, pencils, pens, clay, collage, crafts and stop frame animation.
Per session £45 to £60
(multiple sessions may be offered at a discounted rate)
Systemic or Dyadic Practice
Systemic practice works with one or more members of a family or other significant relationships. It takes into account our responses to our wider environments and our position in the world. This can take away individual blame and can build stronger family relationships, improve communication and allow space to work through difficulties together.
Dyadic therapy primarily focuses on the relationship between the parent or carer and the child. It can support attachment, bonding and enhancing communication and connection.
Systemic and dyadic sessions use a mixture of talking, playing, creativity and are adapted to suit the clients needs.
Per session £50 to £70
(multiple sessions may be offered at a discounted rate)
Sensorimotor Therapy
This way of working uses certain techniques called Clay field and Guided Drawing. These have been developed to help heal and repair the nervous system.
The techniques can allow connection with the embodied self and the nervous systems which are sometimes called motor impulses. It can work well for anyone who is experiencing emotional difficulties and can be particularly effective for those who have suffered from early childhood trauma, accidents, or medical, physical or sexual abuse.
Because these therapies do not rely on talking, children can find this way of working helpful.
Sensorimotor Therapy has been developed by Heinz Deuser and Cornelia Elbrecht. More details can be found on their website:

Per session £50 to £80
(multiple sessions may be offered at a discounted rate)
Group Art Therapy
Sometimes working with art materials together in a facilitated group can empower people to learn from each other, connect, share and reflect on their experiences
Group work may focus on particular areas of interest or challenges. It may also be a more affordable option for people who have limited finances.
Some examples of groups:
-
Culturally specific groups
-
Groups for women or for men only
-
Groups for people who identify as LGBTQI
-
Parenting groups
-
